This girlie is such a kind and wonderful artist!!! Understatement of the yearrr!!!! She's already gifted me with tons of amazing artworks and at the cost of, well, nothing! So she wanted to commission to do something like this for her, but I say I don't need the points for all she's already done for meeee!!! But anyway, she wanted me to draw her fursona, Bantam, looking up at the stars or dancing under them or something cute! She wanted me to relate her favourite quote (in italics, above) to the picture in any way Although her suggestion of stars on strings was cute, I later came up with this idea~
This is actually 3-D ish , like Bantam and the stars "pop-out" a bit Yay~! And I really love how it turned out!!!! Eeeeeep! It looks kinda simple, but this was a challenge for me in many ways. It took quite some hours , but I hope it's enough to suffice for all the amazing artwork she's given me!!!!!!
I originally was super hesitant on doing this... because 1. I SUCK at backgrounds (especially night skies... ), 2. I can't draw stars well (but I gained some practice here ), and 3. Bantam is a tricky character to draw because her design focuses mostly on fur and shading techniques (I like how her fur turned out, though! ) But alas, I had the idea of making this sort of 3-D and using some paint for the background, and gave it a shot... and, volia! I'm really pleased despite all the challenges. I swear my artistic abilities are finally "being easy on me" or something... because most of my recent traditional artwork would have turned out FAR worse, if at all.. but instead they're kinda turning out! Let's hope this keeps up!!! Not sure if you know what I mean. but whatever.
ALSO, that background was pretty killer (and I think I may have killed my paintbrush from dabbing it on the page so much......sometimes in a harsh manner 'cause it was so time consuming... ). I had made another background... the first one was just black at the top and slowly changed to a darker blue near the bottom. Umm, a variegated look? Art terminology? Yummy! But I did this one second, and I almost gave up on it [TWICE!!] because getting all the specs of white was impossible and it looked okay and was taking too long... and multiple things went wrong with it. BUT, I literally forced myself NOT to wash my palette and brushes and carry on with this! And I must say, I REALLY like it much better than the first one! This looks much more natural and pretty! I actually like the tiny white hints (that I swear were impossible to paint over ).. they almost look like REALLY distant stars
Cutting all all Bantam's fur was rather tricky, too, but that was probably the easiest part of it all ...aside from colouring the stars Ohhh! And I used plain cardstock for the background in case it matters to anyone
Hmmm... so anyway.. what more to say? I don't know. I hope you like it, simplicity and all!!!!
NOTE: I am feeling rather emote-FUL at the moment. Teehee~! It adds some nice colour to my typically colourless AC, hm?
Note2: Blame Miss Bantam for getting me started with the "" emote.. she uses it all the time and I love it It's so her~ I think she's also the reason I'm making this all emote-FUL... because she tends to use emotes in her comments/journals/etc and it's CONTAGIOUS today!?!?
Awe! Oh man! This is so neat! The stars really pop out in the background~ I love how the stars are kinda curved, and not the regular straight-lined kind of star. Definitely adds your own style to them. Hmm... did you 'spot' the background do make it black and blue to emulate the universe? Or is it just how this was photocopied?
I think you did well with her fur- it really pops out, but it definitely isn't how you'd regularly draw fur o.o I think you did stay up well to the challenge
Hmm... even though, yeah, the wolf character DOES pop out to you... ~maybe~ that's a bad thing, since it, in a way, doesn't really mold as well into the background? As though it doesn't fit into the lighting/shading that's in the background? Not sure how you'd fix that- perhaps adding some dark tones. But at the same time, it kinda words because the wolf pops out as much as the stars do, making it 3Dish...
And oh god so many emotes in your artists comments haha
I think this is one of your best drawings/paintings! I really adore simple backgrounds and detailed fur, so yeah. :3 The expression is great, the stars look awesome and 3D-like, and the quote behind it is really inspiring and stuffs. So yeah. Great job!
Aww, thank you very VERY muchh! Sorry for the late reply ^^' Too many messages hhaah. But gahh, thank you so much for the feedback. It really means a lot *huggless* <3
Wow, this is amazing! o.o I love how it looks like the wolf stands out of the pic and the way you made the fur, it looks like it took some really long time to make O.O Keep it up
Eeeep! Thank you very very muchh! I greatly appreciate all the kind words! It didn't take too tooo long. 4 or 5 hours maxish? I'm not really sure ^^' But it was worth the time! I'll try yo keep it up, thanks a bunch!
